NAFAS نفس
Nafas (2022) for soprano saxophone and accordion commissioned by the Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo Nafas (نفس) in Farsi has multiple meanings, with original roots coming from Arabic. The first meaning is breath, respiration, or gasp. It can also be understood as the self or soul, or even used for the concept of voice or freedom. |
Close your eyes. Breath.
Be at one with yourself. Tune into yourself. Let your instrument breath. Flow with it. Gradually, open your awareness to your partner. Flow with their breath and their instrument. Tune in to them, breath with them. |
